What are Medical Gas Therapies

You might think using medical gases in therapy is unusual but this practice started when pure oxygen (O2) was first used as a medical treatment in 1810.  Since then, Medical Gas Therapy has come into its own and now ozone, xenon, hydrogen, argon and helium are all used as medical treatments. (See more information here).

Ozone Therapy

Ozone is probably the best-known medical gas used for therapy these days and it was originally used over 100 years ago in Europe. It’s one of the most effective and sought-after treatments because it’s beneficial for a wide range of illnesses. It’s completely non-toxic when administered correctly by trained therapists and patients report feeling great relief from their symptoms after use.

Xenon Therapy

Xenon is less well-known but the benefits of this medical gas are quite profound. Medical xenon has a deeply regenerating and healing effect on the human body when inhaled. Xenon penetrates through cell membranes and has a positive effect on the entire molecular composition of cells. At the same time, xenon doesn’t cause any adverse biochemical reactions so it’s completely non-toxic to the human body when inhaled in the correct low concentrations, mixed with oxygen, by properly trained therapists.

Hydrogen Therapy

Hydrogen Therapy is currently gaining significant attention from academic researchers and those in the medical field around the world because of its therapeutic effects on many conditions. The latest biomedical research shows hydrogen has therapeutic potential for over 170 different diseases and can be therapeutic in every organ of the human body.

To find out more about the therapeutic benefits of Hydrogen Therapy, see our story here.

Argon Therapy

Argon has been shown to have narcotic and neuro-protective properties which are greatly useful in medical treatments. Argon is considered a small noble gas element and it produces positive neuro-protective effects on certain types of brain injuries.

In Russia, argon is used as a treatment for a number of sexual dysfunctions, as an immune system modulator and an overall healing agent. (Read more here). Argon has also shown strength as an organic protectant and as a surgical tool. For more information, read this story here.

Helium Therapy
Helium is an inert gas which is able to travel along the respiratory tract in a smoother way than either air or oxygen. Because of this unique physical property, helium is has been shown to be effective for use in respiratory emergencies and ongoing respiratory treatment such as asthma, COPD, croup and bronchiolitis. (See this study here).

Helium is the second most abundant element in the universe. It’s used as a medical treatment dates back to 1926 when Sayers and Yant found that helium-oxygen mixtures could be breathed without discomfort. (See this study here).

Krypton Therapy

Krypton has been found to help as an overall immune system modulator. For more information, see this story here.

Disclaimer: In Australia, some of the therapies offered at the Ozone Clinic are not officially recognised as a part of mainstream medical practice. These therapies are known as complementary therapies and are considered to be useful as an additional treatment to those offered by your medical practitioner. The Ozone Clinic and its personnel are fully trained in the application of these complementary therapies but they’re not registered medical practitioners and are considered to be complementary therapists.
