Ozone Therapy as add-on treatment in fibromyalgia management by rectal insufflation: an open-label pilot study

Material and methods:

This research was conducted at the University of Granada, Spain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effective of ozone therapy as an add-on in the treatment of fibromyalgia.

The study participants comprised of fibromyalgia sufferers who were given ozone therapy for a period of 12 weeks. At the end of each session, Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) was given to the patients to fill.

Results:

At the end of each session and at different concentrations of ozone used, patients reported a significant reduction in pain.

Conclusion:

Ozone is an effective adjuvant therapy that can be used in the management of pain disorders like fibromyalgia.
